Soap and Glory Solar Powder

I got this bronzer when I got the primer, as it was on a 3 for 2 deal at Boots.Β  I also purchased the Supercat eyeliner I will tell you about that in another post.

The Solar Powder is a multi shade ‘shimmering’ bronzer. When you open it it looks like Benefit Hoola and Hoola light with a pink over spray covering the embossed S&G.Β  That over-spray comes right off and beneath it is just nice matte bronzers.

I love Hoola but sometimes it looks really muddy on me especially if I have been cack handed with it and I also struggle to blend it.Β  I have my eye one the Hoola Lite (birthday list kids!) as I think the colour would be better suited to me as I am very fair skinned.

I was a bit anxious to use this as I had had such disasters with the foundation and primer but this bronzer is GORGEOUS; its very (bingo key words coming up) Buttery, creamy, pigmented and blendable. Whoooo Hoooo – got a line, call bingo!

But seriously this is a lovely bronzer, it applies really nicely,Β  the colour suits my complexion and it lasts all day without fading or rubbing off.Β  I loves it 10/10

I still want Hoola lite though kids so get your money out and I also want the Benefit dandelion twinkle and Anastasia Modern renaissanceΒ  – not so subtle HINT

Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Primer

Hi guys – I reviewed the S&G ‘One Heck of a Blot’ foundation a while a go; you can read thatΒ Here.Β  I hated the foundation and so did many others.Β  However a lot of the folks who didn’t like the foundation, loved the primer so I thought I would give it a go.

Ok so I am almost 46, my skin is quite dry and dehydrated but its actually in pretty good condition but this primer HATED my skin. Initially I tried it with the S&G One Heck of a Blot’ foundation to see if it would change my opinion that the foundation is utter rubbish (it didn’t) and then tried it with Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea, L’Oreal Infallible and Bourjois Healthy Mix.Β  Each and every foundation I tried had the same results – a blinking mess.

The primer goes on nice but the minute I added anything it went patchy and the foundation pulled off in big clumps.Β  I tried all the foundations with a beauty blender, foundation brush and my fingers.Β  Same result every time.Β  It was so bad, that even though I was working from home and no-one would see me, I had to take everything off and start again as I looked like I had a serious skin condition.

Not being one to give up I watched a lot of YT videos to see if I was applying it incorrectly – I wasn’t.Β  But I did try just to put it in certain areas and use Benefit Porefessional on my pores (T Zone area) but alas the same results! Big massive cakey mess.

I am interested to know if any of you had better results with either of these products as I do love the S&G brand (got a lovely bronzer that I will post about soon) let me know if you got them to work as I don’t want to give up on them just yet but for now it’s a generous 1/10

My Little Box April 2017 ‘Garden’ Box – product and box review

I didn’t do a spoiler post so you can see my unboxing here:

I was not as thrilled as I usually am but it was a good box. I initially loved it but to be honest I have only used 2 of the products: the water bottle and the vitamin scrub.Β  The rest of the items are still in the box on my ‘oh look pretty boxes’ shelf.

The lip balm I am saving for the summer as I have soooooo many at the mo.Β  It has gorge packing is nice and summery – here in the NW of England it is freezing so its not quite the time for pink flamingo balms.Β  The scarf is cute but just not for me.Β  Its really good quality and I will probably send it off to the summer fair or something.

The coconut flakes – one snort and they were gone but they were OK.

The water bottle is just bloody gorgeous and goes everywhere with me – HIT!

The facial scrub ‘vitamin shot’ looks scarey when you open it as it is vivid orange and the scrubby bits look huge but it is amazing; my skin is very sensitive but this was so nice to use.Β  I am miffed we cannot purchase My Little Beauty in the UK yet as i would DEFFO repurchase this.

The MIXA lotion was a new thing for me and I have to say although the packaging is far from pretty this stuff is the best.Β  As well as being sensitive my skin is so dry but this stuff hydrates it amazingly and absorbs great so there is no waiting about to get dressed etc.Β  LOVE IT.

The box was OK, not the best but OK I would give it a 7/10

Birchbox UK April – product and box review

I have a love/hate relationship with Birchbox but somehow, after all the hate I have thrown at them they have given me an affiliate link – it will be interesting to know how long it lasts before they null and void it.Β  I am not sure how it works if I’m honest, I think I get points or something if you use my link to sign up, I am really not sure but anyways if you do decide to sign up to Birchbox you can use my code – yay does this mean I am a real blogger now or a complete sell out? ha-ha

To be fair to BB I loved the April box and for me to like it is a big deal as I have hated on them every month. And I loved it before I got the code.Β  Did I mention the code? lol BIRCHBOX UK

OK that’s enough of that. On to the box…….. The box was a collab with Boden and it is stunning.Β  I was so fed up with Birchbox and was set on cancelling my sub so I was very pleasantly surprised when my April box arrived and even more so when I used everything:

1. Lusetan Keratin Conditioner. Full size is Β£5.Β  This is a really nice conditioner and it made my hair smell glorious, even Mr Mouse commented on how good it smelled.Β  I am finally having my hair cut and coloured on Friday, its been about 10 years since a hairdresser frazzled my hair and I have been too scared to trust anyone with it, which means my hair is a mess and down to my backside.Β  This conditioner made it so easy to get through and believe me it is usually a 30 minute battle every morning.Β  it got rid of my frizz and I was thrilled with it – a very well deserved 10/10

2. Baija CrΓ¨me Moana body lotion: I am saving this for summer as it is soooooo nice and smells fantastic.Β  I have used it a little and its lovely and creamy without being sticky and doesn’t ball up.Β  The packaging is lovely and its another hit 10/10

3. Model Co Gel crayon Liner – utter utter shit.Β  It snapped as soon as I tried to swatch it, it is very scratchy on the eye.Β  It is useless on the eyelid and stransfers and smudges if used on the water line or on the under eye.Β  Its going in the bin as I wouldn’t even give it away it is so bad – 0/10

4. Mannakadar HD finishing powder; although it is tiny it is a full size product and has a value of Β£27 – I shit thee not.I am not having it that this is full size it just cannot be – no way.Β  It is T.I.N.Y.Β  However good things come in small packages, I have been using this to set my under eye and by golly it works! I have a lot of wrinkles under my eyes and I usually have to avoid concealer and powder as it sinks so bad into them and makes them look terrible but my eyes also smudge stupid so I tried this out an it is MAGICAL.Β  It blinking works, I still don’t believe it is full size but I will deffo buy it again 10/10

5. The final product is from one of my fave brands Polaar. this is a lovely scrub and I have been using this and a My Little Box one that I didn’t get round to posting (yet).Β  I actually prefer the MLB one but this doesn’t hurt my face or sting and the packaging is adorbs.Β  8/10

All in all its one of the best boxes I have received and so i am SHOOK as Jeffree Starr would say. My May box is due so lets hope it is as good and I do not go back to hating

My unboxing is available here: p.s my accent is Bolton in the North West of England – it is near Manchester and is very strong so you may need a translator!

Birchbox March 2017 – box review

Well I had intended to cancel Birchbox after receiving this box and was peeved, again.Β  But I forgot so I have another month to give it a chance – I am rooting for you Birchbox please do not let me down.

My box contained 5 tiny samples which was really the cause of my anger when I opened the box.Β  I know it doesn’t cost a huge amount but when the other boxes are slaying it every month, well it makes me just feel Meh! (more…)

GlossyBox March 2017 – Box and Product review

This box was the best I received this month, out of all the subscription boxes I am signed up to. The total value of the box was Β£74 and contained 4 full size products and one sample that in itself was worth Β£15. Magical.

But were the products worth it? Let’s see……..

1. Schwarzkopf blonde me keratin restore shampoo: The official website says: Powered by Bonding Technology, this customised blonde care range is especially formulated to care for the delicate structure of blonde hair. Designed to cater for all blonde needs, with tailor-made nourishment and maintenance in 3 dedicated tone directions:

Full care regime for in-depth nourishment and strengthening of any blonde hair.

For cool cendrΓ© tone directions, neutralising unwanted warmth.

For warm caramel, refreshing or reviving faded blonde shades.

So that’s that then. This shampoo smells gorgeous and is really strong. Even in the box with the outer packaging I could smell it and feared something had leaked – but no! it was this product. My hair is in dire need of some TLC so I was dying to try this out. My problem with it is that I found it really difficult to use in that it didn’t want to absorb into my hair. I have really long, fine hair and suffer from the worst β€˜bed head’ throughout the day, I only need to move and it knots. Usually I have to be quite delicate when washing my hair as otherwise I have a knotty mess that takes hours to get through. With this I had to proper scrub it to get it to work and it is a bugger to rinse out but when my hair is dry it is lovely and soft and shiny and tends to knot less. I am impressed as I have used every shampoo known to man and this made my hair lovely. It’s a refreshing change and well worth the £££s. My rating 9/10

2. Sleek eye and cheek palette; we got to choose which palette we wanted so I chose All Day Soiree. There are 4 shadows, a blush and a highlighter. The colours are lovely and swatch really nicely. I haven’t used the shadows yet but I have used the highlighter daily and I really like it. It isn’t blinding (if you want that get a Sleek Solstice palette – it’s the but a really nice subtle day time shine. I like it. My rating: 8/10

3. 00lution Eye Love: This is a natural eye cream that’s worth Β£30. Yikes. Its organic and is supposed to be good for dark circles. I have used it nightly and haven’t seen any visible improvement but it’s a lovely cream, doesn’t sting my eyes and absorbs well into the skin. I don’t think I would repurchase because of the price but I will definitely use all of it. My rating: 7/10

4. Crabtree & Evelyn Somerset Meadow Hand Therapy; this is a nice hand cream that absorbs well and doesn’t leave your hands feeling sticky.Β  the official website states that it locks in lashings of moisture as it is infused with shea butter, macadamia nut oil it nourishes skin and contains hydrating ceramides and conditioning water-lily and ivy extracts. Fragrance: The fresh scent of wildflowers mingles with dewy green notes of ivy and water lily, whilst fruity accords of blackberry and bergamot add a hint of sweetness. I didn’t smell any of that; I could only smell old ladies and it is very strong. I wouldn’t use it out and about because of the smell but I do use it at night when the smell can only offend me; it is a good cream. My rating: 7/10

5. This Works in Transit Camera Close Up; this was the only sample in the box and still worth a whopping Β£15. It’s a 3 in 1 product that is a mask, moisturiser and primer. The cream has a lovely consistency and goes on the skin well. BUT, I have found it to be a bit dry and tightens my face in a way I don’t like so I am going to stop using it as a primer. I will however use it at night and on no make-up days as I do like it and the brand. My rating: 8/10

I really liked this box and enjoyed all the products. Well done GlossyBox!

My Little Box March 2017 – Box and Product review

Now we all know I love My Little Box but I do try and remain unbiased in my reviews, so even if it’s MLB, if something is rubbish I am going to say so. This month’s theme was #nofilter and it was all about the nudes. Again we did not get a box and I am still sulking about that. However I do use the make-up bag daily and it holds loads of pretties and as it’s transparent I can easily find things without having to empty the entire thing.

1. My Little Box foundation brush: Oh this is just so cute and pink and little and lovely and just everything. There is a slight problem though. For me, it doesn’t bloody work. The brush is just too dense, it is lovely and soft and I can swirl it all over my face all day long, but the minute I try and apply foundation with it, it just takes my foundation off. I thought at first it was the foundation, then maybe I was being too heavy handed but in the end I had to face the fact that as foundation brushes go this one won’t be getting used.

It did clean well and looks cute in my brushes pot so it will stay as a nice ornament and if my daughter (who also gets MLB) likes it she can have a spare. My rating: 3/10 purely because it is pretty.
2. Phone ring: I adore this. It is really well made and is mostly rose gold. Unfortunately I have an old phone and not the fancy rose gold one but it still looks nice. I don’t use it so much with my finger but as a little phone stand as you can change the angle of the ring. My rating: 10/10

3. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – I was so happy to get this in my box as it was something I have coveted for a long, long time. I was proper giddy. As I have said in some other posts I am having issues with my skin so I am hoping that that is why I really did not get on with this primer. I was expecting miracles but all I got was a nasty texture, balling up and patchy foundation, I was so CROSS.

I am not totally writing it off as I am unhappy with everything I am using lately so it has got to be me and my stupid hormones rather than all the products. With that in mind I will revisit it once my skin is behaving: My (temporary) Rating: 3/10.
4. Beauty notepad – rubbish filler item, don’t need it, don’t want it and if I was the greatest Youtuber ever (Kimberley Clarke – check out her Anti-haul videos) I wouldn’t buy it. 1/10

5. My Little Beauty nude nail polish β€˜Toute Nude’: This is another adorable item and I love everything about it. The packaging is to die for and the little drawing on the back of the box is #totesadorbs. The colour is lovely and I will be wearing it all summer once I have a bit of colour. My rating 10/10

6. Calvin Klein – Deep Euphoria. As samples go this was one of the best, no scratch and sniff here thank you very much. We got a miniature bottle with a decent enough amount of scent in it. The fragrance is nice and I will be using it. My rating: 10/10

7. Blush Pink Heart Bubble Wrap: I know, I know, I know, this isn’t an item but packaging but it is so cute it deserves its own mention. I love it and I am keeping it and I just blinking love it. My rating 10/10

So my Little Box had a few fails this month but I still love the box and it is still my favourite. Bring on the April box, I can’t wait!

Overall rating: 7/10
