I got this bronzer when I got the primer, as it was on a 3 for 2 deal at Boots. I also purchased the Supercat eyeliner I will tell you about that in another post.
The Solar Powder is a multi shade ‘shimmering’ bronzer. When you open it it looks like Benefit Hoola and Hoola light with a pink over spray covering the embossed S&G. That over-spray comes right off and beneath it is just nice matte bronzers.
I love Hoola but sometimes it looks really muddy on me especially if I have been cack handed with it and I also struggle to blend it. I have my eye one the Hoola Lite (birthday list kids!) as I think the colour would be better suited to me as I am very fair skinned.
I was a bit anxious to use this as I had had such disasters with the foundation and primer but this bronzer is GORGEOUS; its very (bingo key words coming up) Buttery, creamy, pigmented and blendable. Whoooo Hoooo – got a line, call bingo!
But seriously this is a lovely bronzer, it applies really nicely, the colour suits my complexion and it lasts all day without fading or rubbing off. I loves it 10/10
I still want Hoola lite though kids so get your money out and I also want the Benefit dandelion twinkle and Anastasia Modern renaissance – not so subtle HINT
Hi guys – I reviewed the S&G ‘One Heck of a Blot’ foundation a while a go; you can read that Here. I hated the foundation and so did many others. However a lot of the folks who didn’t like the foundation, loved the primer so I thought I would give it a go.
Ok so I am almost 46, my skin is quite dry and dehydrated but its actually in pretty good condition but this primer HATED my skin. Initially I tried it with the S&G One Heck of a Blot’ foundation to see if it would change my opinion that the foundation is utter rubbish (it didn’t) and then tried it with Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea, L’Oreal Infallible and Bourjois Healthy Mix. Each and every foundation I tried had the same results – a blinking mess.
The primer goes on nice but the minute I added anything it went patchy and the foundation pulled off in big clumps. I tried all the foundations with a beauty blender, foundation brush and my fingers. Same result every time. It was so bad, that even though I was working from home and no-one would see me, I had to take everything off and start again as I looked like I had a serious skin condition.
Not being one to give up I watched a lot of YT videos to see if I was applying it incorrectly – I wasn’t. But I did try just to put it in certain areas and use Benefit Porefessional on my pores (T Zone area) but alas the same results! Big massive cakey mess.
I am interested to know if any of you had better results with either of these products as I do love the S&G brand (got a lovely bronzer that I will post about soon) let me know if you got them to work as I don’t want to give up on them just yet but for now it’s a generous 1/10
I didn’t do a spoiler post so you can see my unboxing here:
I was not as thrilled as I usually am but it was a good box. I initially loved it but to be honest I have only used 2 of the products: the water bottle and the vitamin scrub. The rest of the items are still in the box on my ‘oh look pretty boxes’ shelf.
The lip balm I am saving for the summer as I have soooooo many at the mo. It has gorge packing is nice and summery – here in the NW of England it is freezing so its not quite the time for pink flamingo balms. The scarf is cute but just not for me. Its really good quality and I will probably send it off to the summer fair or something.
The coconut flakes – one snort and they were gone but they were OK.
The water bottle is just bloody gorgeous and goes everywhere with me – HIT!
The facial scrub ‘vitamin shot’ looks scarey when you open it as it is vivid orange and the scrubby bits look huge but it is amazing; my skin is very sensitive but this was so nice to use. I am miffed we cannot purchase My Little Beauty in the UK yet as i would DEFFO repurchase this.
The MIXA lotion was a new thing for me and I have to say although the packaging is far from pretty this stuff is the best. As well as being sensitive my skin is so dry but this stuff hydrates it amazingly and absorbs great so there is no waiting about to get dressed etc. LOVE IT.
The box was OK, not the best but OK I would give it a 7/10
Last week Jeffree Star posted a video proclaiming he had found the world’s most full coverage foundation. It was a brand from Prague called Dermacol. The video was impressive and the product did seem to live up to the claim and as such he gave it the Jeffree Star seal of approval.
Now I have suffered from roseacea for years and no matter how much concealer, foundation or powder I use, there is a stubborn red patch under my right eye that refuses to be covered. It is also surrounded by broken veins. So on seeing Jeffree’s video I decided to give it a go.
The product is available on Amazon and cost me £10. It has different packaging than Jeffree’s but it is the same product. The product comes in a tube like toothpaste and the instructions are to use a little as a lot goes a long way. They are not wrong. I can cover my entire face with an amount the size of a pea. A little pea. I found the best way to apply was a suggested; using a damp (not wet) sponge/beauty blender.
It’s quite thick but it smoothed out lovely and this is the first foundation that I have used, in my 45 years, that did not oxidise on my skin. At all. Not one bit. No oompa loompers here.
And the redness? Well I put it on at approx 8am and I was good until about 30 mins ago (1pm), a tiny bit of red is sneaking through BUT that is around my nose and I have to admit I have the sniffles so I am not holding that against them.
It does sink in to my lines and wrinkles and does emphasise my pores ( I did use 2 primers This Works and L’oreal Blur Cream, I am going to try benefit’s Porefessional tomorrow) but if I am being honest I have found that with all foundations lately; my skin just does not want to play ball so if this product is going to cover the red then I can live with it.
Overall I am impressed, it feels nice, the coverage is really good and its cheap!
(the red on my nose and around my nose is where I have sniffed and rubbed it off)
Rating: 9/10 I would give it a 10 but it does really cake in my wrinkles.
First off, please ignore the state of my eyebrows. I have specifically not done them so my lovely friend can see what they are like before I draw them. I have also taken the picture before applying anything to my face so you can really see what it looks like. I have also included ‘not done yet’ eye so you can see the difference.
I have to say I am really happy with the result, it really wasn’t as bad as I expected or anticipated. The scar is getting smaller and paler each day. I facetime my sister everyday as she is brutally honest with me and yesterday she couldn’t see it at all and told me to get the other one sorted out pronto.
I intend to do it tonight as I am in presenting a conference in London on the 9th March so I want to get it done asap so I have time to heal. It will be interesting to see how I perform when I am not worrying about the things on my eyes!
I think I will do blogs on the other eye as it is the bigger of the the two eyes and I am anxious it may be worse this time; so I will keep you all informed.
I have no soreness at all today and it was also the first morning that when I woke I did not look like I had gone 5 rounds with a prize fighter. The scab is tiny and the redness has almost gone. (more…)
